A chance to pit their wits against Shaun Wallace from ITV’s popular quiz show The Chase inspired North Londoners to raise more than £1,200 for their local hospice.

Organisers Sophie and David Ledwith from MM Broad & Son Funeral Directors arranged the charity quiz night at The Woodside Park Club in Southover, North London.

The event on 7 October saw 78 participants (split into 13 teams) compete against host Shaun Wallace, more commonly known as The Dark Destroyer.

The evening raised funds for the North London Hospice, which cares for people with potentially life-limiting illnesses, and aims to add quality and meaning to their life journey.

When the donor of the winning prize of two tickets to Arsenal v Huddersfield Town ended up winning her tickets back through the raffle, she kindly re-donated her prize, which Shaun auctioned off for £110. This took the fundraising total to an incredible £1,203.

Sophie said: “I am overjoyed at the amount of money the night managed to raise, the North London Hospice really is such an incredible charity.

“The evening was so much fun and we would like to say a huge thank you to Shaun for being a brilliant host and to everyone who attended, as it wouldn’t have been such a success without you all. We will definitely be organising more fundraising events in the future.”
