Funeral Solution Expert is an independent and unbiased research and consultancy business, co-founded in 2021 by one of the UK’s leading funeral sector experts.

Simon Cox has over 39 years-experience working for leading firms in the funeral planning and later life sectors, he has appeared on BBC TV, BBC Radio 4, Sky News, frequently in the national press and even in Parliament. He is a champion for improving the social fund for funerals and working with leading bereavement charities to provide consumer help, guidance and support.

Funeral Solution Expert use our own consumer insight, and market sector expertise to base our awards solely on helping consumers make informed and confident financial choices. This consumer and market insight forms part of our annual independent funeral plan market report.

Our Direct Cremation funeral plan review included 16 national providers looking at all aspects of a direct cremation funeral plan product across 12 specific criteria. These criteria are based on our own expert sector knowledge of what makes for a good value and transparent funeral plan and our own consumer research among 1,500 UK adults to assess what is most important to them in a high-quality funeral plan.
